House Speaker Paul D. Ryan said Tuesday that the rollout of President Trumps extreme vetting executive order was regrettable, but said the new policy is not only legal, but the right thing to do to try to head off a future terrorist attack.
He said hes talked with new Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly to make sure the policy is carried out better, particularly when it comes to green card holders who were getting snared in the early going.
But he said the House, in a bipartisan fashion, voted to back a pause in the refugee program in the last Congress, and he said the seven majority-Muslim countries whom Mr. Trump has subjected to a temporary visa ban were actually singled out by Congress and the Obama administration.

Ryan is just bidding his time to stab Trump in the back, and in the front.
The ‘confusion’ wasn’t regrettable, it was manufactured by the degenerate msm.
>confusion was regrettable<
.
confusion was intentionally created by the MSM.
Paul Ryan is easily confused.
Yep.
And they would have done the same thing regardless of how smoothly or elegantly the order had been announced. Bank on it.
Well, may the degenerate msm come to regret the confusion they caused.... And who does Scripture say is the author of confusion?
At least on this one thing Pauly RINO is doing the right thing.
Don’t trust him to do it every time.
Retaining Ryan is very regrettable. Be sure to remind your House Member several times between now and midterms.
Any Republican who supports the media-leftist “chaos” narrative is being a prick.
Homeland Security is a huge organization. Nonetheless, the directives were put down to the lowest levels within hours. So perhaps a few dozen - NON AMERICANS were inconvenienced in their travels that first day.
STOP THE BS!!
Surprise, the Munster boy can read a poll as in Rasmussen.
I wasn’t confused, Paul.
A little. But there literally were people on an airplane when the EO was signed. It was somewhat a mess. The guy who worked for a decade for the United States from Iraq was held for a very long time. Thank God he still likes Trump. It could easily have been better planned and you know it.
Yep...he will too. Ryno is not to be trusted.
Once a lefty always...
Now comes Mike Lee saying “ Oh, yes, I would accept Trump’s nomination for Supreme Court Justice”.
Lee and Ryan and Cruz spewed saliva and their genius grade brain matter all over the continent rejecting Trump, showing their contempt for him, considering him so far beneath them as to be made into their punch line.
These guys are TROUBLE, and desperate for the spotlight.
There was nothing that was regrettable. As usual, Ryan was wrong.
Bannon and Miller were right to include green cards in the E. O. because green card abuse desparately needs to be cleaned up. Who knows how many Islamic extremists have been granted green cards by the Obummer administration passing them out like they were candy.
I don’t care if some foreigner is inconvenienced or has his feelings hurt if it makes us safer. I’m tired of reading all the reports of terrorist attacks against us committed by “Mohammed”.
If there was anything that was “regrettable” about the E.O. it was that it was too narrow: it should have been longer in duration than 120 days and should have included Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc., etc.
Careful with that headline. You’ll create a lot of cognitive dissonance among the Ryan haters in here.
Trump has brought Ryan to heel. I love it.
The protestors are who caused the confusion.
