Illinois, Idaho and California passed ritual abuse laws at least 20 years ago. IIRC, those laws are still on the books and the text can be found online. I invite folks to read the Idaho statute. No one is saying that there isn’t child abuse and that there shouldn’t be a law against it.
The issue is fake accusations of abuse, just like with any other crime on the books.
