Of course that's the big question. My guess is nothig happens until we get Jeff Sessions actually operating as Att.Gen. After that all bets are off. He could allow NYPD to continue or he could work with the FBI. It's probably more likely he works with the FBI but will he tell the NYPD not to prosecute? Hard to say.
Also you have the FBI's head, Comey, with a huge and very controversial reputation to defend. The pressure on him to refer a huge bastion of evidence to the ATt. Gen. for prosecution has to be enormous.
Add in a President that will be all over this when the time right if he's not already and you have a situation where something is going to happen.
And it will be for the benefit of the country.That's just how the Trump adm. works. People will go to jail. It's just a matter of how and when it happens.
