Caroline Kennedy lost her Ambassador post in Japan when Trump took office. He sent her packing and hasn’t even bothered to name a replacement.
But according to the New York Post, she’s not done with public service. Kennedy is planning to run for the U.S. senate in 2018.
First, she’s going to be penning a memoir, but then she’ll be getting down to work. She plans to follow in the footsteps of her uncle Robert Kennedy, and run for a New York senate seat.
She plans to target the seat of Democratic Senator Kristen Gillibrand. Or she could run for Rep. Kristen Gillibrand’s House seat instead.
This is great news for progressives. Caroline Kennedy has the Kennedy name and recognition, but none of the baggage.

Kennedy has a net worth...Kennedy trust funds.
She has much of the popularity of Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton among Progressives, but no baggage. So securing campaign donations won’t be a problem.
But her aspirations don’t end there. According to an unnamed source, “Caroline had a successful ambassadorial run in Japan and feels really very confident about putting her hat in the ring for a New York congressional or Senate seat, with even possibly bigger political objectives down the road”
“Down the road” could include a run for president in 2020. She would be a strong candidate to run against the Republicans.

Gillibrand isn’t regressive enough. Regressives want a real liberactionary, not some “moderate” DINO./s
She vacated NY-20 after 2008 in order to fill Hillary's Senate seat for the remainder of Hillary's second term, which ended in 2012, when Kirsten ran again, successfully. In 2018, she will be up for her second full senate term.
NY-20 is currently held by Democrat Paul Tonko, who won in 2016 with 64% of the vote.

Well, looks like she’s not divorced yet, but the rumors swirl about it on the Web, and here is a little tidbit:

For years, reports had circulated that Kennedy and husband Ed Schlossberg were nearing a split. Their living arrangements likely played into these rumors — Ed lived in an apartment on Manhattan’s West Village while Caroline stayed in a mansion on Park Avenue.”
I believe that was the luncheon where the video tape showed her chewing her food open mouthed as Al Sharpton visibly recoiled.

The NY-20 Gillibrand won and served in is not the same as the post-2013 NY-20. That is a historically Republican upstate district (elected the legendary Gerry Solomon prior to John Sweeney, who lost in an upset to Gillibrand in the ‘06 anti-GOP landslide). The seat was reclaimed in 2010 by the GOP and John Faso sits in the seat today, which is now the 19th.
The present 20th is based in Albany, which was the 21st district prior to 2013. That is a historically Dem district that hasn’t elected a Republican since 1968.
This is kind of interesting. Isn’t Hillary trying to set Chelsea up for Congress from New York? Shazam!

It’s amazing to me that just because of name recognition, and money, people like CKS think they’re senatorial, presidential material. Notice she’s never referred to by her married name, only Kennedy, when it comes to politics.
