Andrew Cuomo's first foray into the sleazy world of NY politics was in 1977 during the Dem primary for NYC Mayor when Ed Koch ran against his father, Mario "il sfaccim" Cuomo. He hired a "goon squad" to drive around the "good" neighborhoods in the surrounding boroughs with bullhorns shouting "vote for Cuomo, not the homo" he pulled a similar stunt in 1986 Dem primary when Koch ran against his father in theDem primary for NY Gov. Contrary to popular belief, Koch despised the Cuomo "crime" family. Of course the gay rights groups NEVER took issue with this. Gotta hand it to them, they're quite adept when it comes to picking and choosing their fights.
