Most air pollution came from cars. Four things cleaned up cars: electronic ignition, fuel injection, EGR and catalytic converters. Well the job is done you don’t need an entire agency to make sure we don’t go back to carburetors and points.
.
You’ve been bamboozled!
The only pollution that cars make is the oxidized sulfur that comes from the catalytic converters.
Electronic ignition does nothing for a well maintained engine. Fuel injection reduces cylinder wear, but has little effect on combustion on 99% of engines.
Oxides of Nitrogen and ozone are actually beneficial to the environment, and especially to human health.
Its all a people control game.
.
Also diesels are much cleaner. They don’t belch the black smoke that they did in the 70’s.
There was a bus stop in front of my grandmother’s house and exhaust from idling buses actually killed a couple of her trees.
Today the buses run on compressed natural gas, with a fraction of the emissions.

We have gone from putting out 200+ hydrocarbons to putting out 2 and yet the EPA keeps tightening emission screws tighter. Enough is enough!
With current systems, I am not sure the catalytic converter is even still necessary.
