it was something about the BOP valve failing.

The BOP valve failed horrendously.

The BOP valve requires a high level of preventative maintenance to ensure it works properly. It was documented that they failed to do much (or maybe any) preventative maintenance.

So, could be cheap materials, could be lack of maintenance, and was more likely a combination of both.

You know i briefly worked oilfield back in the mid 80’s and i have been in the concrete business the last 22 years, now saying that and seeing that video of Deepwater Horizan last week there is of course the controversy of BP and the concrete test for the casing.
It makes me angry that BP does what thry did, and i hope this never happens again, plain and simple corporate greed.

No more, ever.
