NASCAR champ Carl Edwards seems to be open to trading his driver’s seat for a spot in the U.S. Senate.

The 37-year-old didn’t exactly rule out challenging Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, a Democrat whose second term in office expires in 2018.

“I believe firmly in the principles that the U.S. was founded upon. If I could help, I definitely would consider it,” he texted to the Associated Press on Wednesday.

Hmm... "the cause of liberty and freedom"! I like it. Looks like he would be challenging McCaskill as a Republican.

I've also heard scores of his Nascar TV interviews, and he expresses himself very well, and is great on camera. Not only that, but he will be able to do celebratory back flips after political wins!

I sure hope he does. I want Claire to go out kicking and screaming.

Anyone notice she is keeping a very low profile lately?

She was one of Hillary’s prime sycophants - she’s probably out in the NY woods trying to run into her on a hike. By now Hillary probably doesn’t even remember Grannie Claire’s name.

This would create another Republican primary, which in Missouri history, is divisive. After all, McCaskill's ads elected Todd Akin and the fool did the rest himself. She should have lost 6 years ago but she ran ads that Akin was too conservative for Missouri, which lured the primary voters to rush to his side. Then he (and she) toasted him in the general. She probably expects to do the same thing again.

Congressman Ann Wagner would be the most likely candidate to defeat McCaskill. She couldn't play the woman-card and Ann knows more about military and foreign policy than McCaskill as Ann is a former ambassador and current Congress rep. Establishment, yes... but usually in MO that doesn't totally disqualify you.
