I have pointed out before on duplicate threads and got criticized for it. Not everyone sees all the posts and duplicate threads serve a purpose was the rationale. I agree as not everyone will read through 10 pages of FR to see what they want, but there has to be a way to preclude duplicate threads. Maybe the mods should be more proactive. What is your take on this?

I don’t have a solution. It’s frustrating to take care to post an opinion only to have been on the Wrong Thread That gets shut down as the dupe. How do other sites deal with it?

Personally I always do a search before posting an article. Usually I search on just one word from the headline. Some cut and paste the headline, others retype the headline. So searching on the entire headline may not be useful.

It also is useful to spend some time with the search page to learn how it works. Experimentation is a great teacher.

It seems when I first got on FR each post on a thread brought that thread back to the top of the page with the refresh button. Thus the often seen BTTT you see on some posts. I liked that method as it kept a hot subject in the fray. It was not so difficult to skim past the redundant headlines to see everything else, but I imagine it took a lot of bandwidth or site capacity.
