Not everybody made a lousy prediction on this year's election results.
In introducing Penn Professor David Eisenhower at the University Club on January 19, 2017, Hadley Arkes of the James Wilson Institute noted that the man for whom Camp David was named was confident in April of last year that the Donald could win. Professor Eisenhower noted that "all the women I know are defending Trump."
That turned out to be a more scientific barometer than whatever the mainstream media were using. It should be noted that Professor Eisenhower is the grandson of one president and the son-in-law of anotherRichard Nixonwho has spent at least two election eves in the White House.
"Crowds matter," he observed, referring to the turnout at Trump rallies.
"I think elections crystalize early," he said. "I dont believe in late deciders."
"They're like death bed confessions."
He also noted that "the elite does not see itself as undeserving."
"They do not understand what happened."
Nevertheless, he advises, "If you want to know what happens in the election, pay attention to where the candidates go. They have very elaborate polls."
Thus, for example, Hillary Clinton spent two solid days in Philadelphia before November 8, 2016. She lost Pennsylvania.

Prof. Helmut Norpoth also deserves credit as an academic who got it right and earlier than just about anyone. He had Trump’s victory pegged at 98% certainty at one point.
I didn't know of a single person who wasn't at least mildly pro-Trump simply because The Don is NOT a career politician and a lawyer. (BTW, the two worst bits of humanity)
We won.
Now, just like in Iraq, comes the hard part. Keeping the victory and draining the swamp.....
I remember this guys prediction. He was spot on
You did see what happened in Iraq today? I’d say they are doing the hard work already
Another reason Hillary lost Pennsylvania was when she stupidly went before a crowd of coal miners and actually admitted that she was going to put coal out of business.
Barzani says to declare Kurdistan’s independence if Maliki returns as Iraq PM?
Meet Iraqs hipsters: Incredibly well-groomed Kurdish men launch clothing brand to prove Iraq is not just a country of war and terrorism?
Iraqi forces retake 2 northern Mosul regions, very close to recapturing east? Something, BTW, that is taking *months*.....
Where’s the article pointing out how many on FR predicted Trump’s win ?
Quite a gathering of academics here too I’d say.
I saw Trump’s advantage when I saw long term Democrats who had voted for Obama supporting Trump. Also Trump had the biggest advantage by positioning himself against the machine and his attackers reinforced this with their vitriol so that even a dummy could see that Trump for all his flaws had all the right enemies.
The elite of both parties and indeed around the world who don’t get it are in denial as they were at every stage of Trump’s march to victory. They don’t see why people don’t have confidence in them when they have produced here in the US a debt of 20 trillion with little to show for it. They have led us into one botched war after another some which were justified but once we got in they would not do what was necessary to let our soldiers win. Instead we found our soldiers often on trial in kangaroo courts for simply trying to keep themselves and their fellow soldiers alive. Over and over again we saw the best and brightest of Washington fail us and abuse us and disregard us while pushing through highly unpopular legislation like Obamacare in the middle of a recession. They lied saying it would lower cost of health care and it of course did no such thing then they try to justify it because a few uninsured got coverage that they often can’t afford to use. These are just the tip of the offenses too numerous to list.
The elites should be thankful because their sins are so great against the citizenry that they were headed for a true reckoning with the people not at the ballot box but in the streets. The election of Donald Trump saved them by proving they could be defeated on the field of rhetorical battle and Trump not only defeated them but made a mockery of them which now they continue to reinforce flailing in their own bile.
I was referring to the pounding of ISIS and capture of al Baghdadi
