that moving the embassy would be a “crime”

The USA can damn well place their embassy anywhere they like in Israel, particularly when supported by the nation of Israel. There is no "crime". When the Palestinians have their own nation, perhaps on an ice floe in the Antarctic, then they can dictate where other nations place an embassy. Until then, they can go suck on a grenade.

If Trump doesn’t move the embassy with all deliberate speed, his credibility will be in a pinch. Hamas makes it so. Any delaying or holding up will be interpreted as weakness, cold feet.

Actually he can do nothing to prevent. He can only react and Gaza is not adjacent to Jerusalem.

The PA will find that starting a war with the new USA will definitely not end well.

If you’ve never seen the documentary “Restrepo” you will never understand why we are doing this. In the documentary a Army unit was stationed at FOL at the bottom of a valley surrounded by mountains. It was litterally shooting fish in a barrel. A new commander was assigned and decided to take the high ground. They eventually created the outpost after some very intensive fighting, but once it was established the daily attacks stopped.

We are about to take the high ground. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s going to be worth it.

"They cant get into jerusalem to do that. Extremely tight controls."

Glad to hear that. It's probably why they're upset.

Exactly. They're sadly mistaken if they think they can tell us what to do.

US embassies overseas in restive places are constructed as fortresses. Even by those standards, a US embassy built in Jerusalem, importantly, and its compound, are going to be incredibly fortified.

It will need to be impervious to mortar and many rocket attacks, garbage truck bombs, individual suicide bombers, and we will need to negotiate with Israel about control over the airspace over the embassy and rooftop anti-projectile weapons like lasers. It will also have to have a deep underground complex that will prevent efforts to tunnel into or undermine it.

There may even be a “pre-clearance center” manned by Israeli border guards to check individuals that want to visit the embassy. Typically this would not be permitted outside of embassies, but in this case we would make an exception.

I know all about that outpost at the bottom of a valley .
I have friends that were in Afghanistan when it was going on.

In essence we been making the same mistake of putting decent people at the bottom of that valley where they can sniped at.
Worse we give them the money to buy the weapons they use to kill. Cut their supply line , cut their power , cut their water , cut their communication to the outside world. They don’t supply any of it , it is all handed and that is why they have time to make so much mischief.
A good start is to start sniping all of their leaders.
Instead we allow them to educate the next generation to be even worse.

Instead we allow them to sit on Facebook and Twitter to celebrate their murders and call for more.

We would have never stopped Japan had not killed everyone in two cities.

You can wage money on the fact that they will try to send another Sirhan Sirhan to attempt to pull the same stunt . We sell them the rope they use to hang us with . The only thing they understand is brute force.

I apologize if my post seemed to question your knowledge of the war in Afghanistan. It wasn’t my intention. I was making a general statement about how it took one commander to be bold enough to take the fight to the enemy. I believe we have a President and SecDef that understand this concept.
