"Any clue as to who the band was?"

No idea.

"Inauguration sources tell us the Committee was close to landing a legendary group -- one that's in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.."

We know that he likes the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith (he played their music at rallies) and it seems the Beach Boys (Mike Love's portion of the band) were asked. All in the Hall of Fame.

My guess is the Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger seems to have pretty conservative opinions these days.

It was released yesterday that the Beach Boys will be playing for the Inaugural Ball put on by Texas in DC. It should be great a ball.
