Good that Trump is not letting Lewis push him around. But he needs to tell blacks that the Lewis formula of racial identity and victim mentality is not working for them — in Chicago or anywhere else.
John Lewis is suffering from a long feud with reality. I don’t doubt that the guy earned his props on that long ago Civil Rights march. But I can separate that from his record since just like I can separate the late Sen. John Glenn’s record as a heroic NASA astronaut from his status as a partisan-hack in the US Senate. Or Randy ‘Duke’ Cunningham’s Vietnam War hero-status from his criminality as a member of the House.
John Lewis is trapped in the quicksand of his past. OK. Selma. Beaten up. Got a lot of Civil Rights advanced for the betterment of all.
But please, John. Stop being a one-trick pony. Get behind efforts to turn Ghettos into Enterprise zone. Help bring prosperity to your people and encourage them to be part of “We the People.”
