Gingrich says Trump shouldn't have a "good relationship" with intel agencies right now

As tensions remain high between President-elect Donald Trump and the intelligence community over Russian election interference, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday that Mr. Trump shouldn’t have a good relationship with the U.S. intelligence agencies right now.

“I don’t think there should be a good relationship right now,” Gingrich told CBS’ “Face the Nation.”. “The very top people who are political appointees I think absolutely betrayed and undermined the intelligence community. I think they acted in ways that are totally inappropriate.”

Gingrich was responding to questions about how Mr. Trump will be able to work with intelligence agencies after his sustained criticism of their findings and actions. At his first press conference since being elected, Mr. Trump said it is a “disgrace” that information leaked out from his classified briefing with intelligence officials.

Mr. Trump should call for a full overhaul of the intelligence agencies once he takes office, Gingrich said.

“I hope what he does is say to the new director of national intelligence, Dan Coats, ‘I expect you to thoroughly overhaul the entire community,’” he said.

As for diplomacy with other countries around the world, Gingrich acknowledged that there will be a “period of adjustment” to Mr. Trump’s brand of diplomacy by Twitter -- and that the rest of the world will get used to his being “complicated.”

“We’re going to go through a period here of adjustment to the fact that we have the first truly entrepreneurial president we’ve seen in modern times,” he said. “Donald J. Trump got to be president his way and he’s going to be president his way -- and the fact is, the rest of the planet is going to have to for better or worse cope with a president who’s very complicated.”

“Newt has occasional valuable opinions.”

Yes, he does, then he goes and says silly stuff and blows it.

There are no circumstances where the CIA and rest of the “intelligence community” can continue to exist if they have a “bad relationship” with the President of the United States.

America would be better off with NO “double ought secret agents” than with a CIA that thinks it can do in the USA what it did in places like Chile, El Salvador, and Iran.

Treason is not in the mandate of the CIA.

And there was no wide spread internet available for people to go to for real news or to counter the opinions of the corrupt and degenerate MSM.

You bring up some good points. Newt didn't have the internet to support him like Trump does today. I think that's one of the reasons why Newt folded.

Anyway I'm not sure why people are criticizing Newt's comment about Trump not having a good relationship with politicized intel agencies. Newt's right on target about this. Trump shouldn't...and he doesn't...

Don’t know about others, but just can’t wait to begin opening the gifts we find under the tree. This is certainly an unusual beginning to a memorable week.

This winning is a new experience for all of us.

I may get a bottle of inexpensive champagne or moderately-priced prosecco (under $20) to celebrate that evening.

I'll be floating on air all week. I am sure we all will.;-)

It's been a long and stressful year and a half.

A balanced budget does not add to the national debt. That’s what is known as a balanced budget: Payments do not exceed income.

I hope that wasn’t too hard to understand.

“I may get a bottle of inexpensive champagne “

We did the same for the morning of. Since we’re Mountain Time Zone, 2 hour behind, we decided brunch with champagne works. We’ll do an American grill of Kobe-style (American made) hamburgers later in the day with Scotch and cigars. We’re turning all day Friday into a holiday. No work at all.

A balanced budget can also have the debt go up.

You have set your budget and you are making your payments, the interest rate goes up on your mortgage and your “debt” increases even though your budget is balanced.

Hope that wasn’t too hard to understand.

“A balanced budget can also have the debt go up.”

Theoretically, yes, but the US pays the interest as we go. The national debt did not go up because of any interest payments. It went up because of spending.

Ya gotta know something about the US budget process before you make a false assertion like you did.

Newt is pro-Newt, and nothing else. He is pro- whatever will make him money, gather fame, or gain influence. He demonstrated how well he works when under pressure during the 90’s, when he caved in to pressure over a book deal. He’s a self-serving coward, and nothing else.

We need to literally dismantlement the CIA, FBI, DEA, et al, and regroup and reform them. These agencies and their political puppets at the top are simply out of control.

President Trump must purge the entire federal government, especially the intelligence agencies, of the hundreds of Marxist-inspired, anti-American leftists appointed by the outgoing, communist, muslim, race-baiting, fraudulent Democrat President.
