In the 1970s US freight rail was dying, hobbled by a layers of legacy gov. Deregulation resulted in a boom in US freight rail which now is the most efficient in the world & and has a 50% market share.
Eliminate subsidies and deregulate -
Excellent example! The railroads were being layered to death by the unions and government regulations including not being able to stop operating lines/runs that were not profitable.
