I've been shopping at L.L. Bean for many years... in Freeport, Maine, online, at our Connecticut store in South Windsor, and in other states. Plus I've been using L.L. Bean's VISA for years for everything (groceries, gas, other stores, etc.), which quickly nets me a pile of $10 coupons to use for merchandise at L.L. Bean stores and online.
I have also vacationed in coastal Maine for decades, and never knew that Linda Bean -- granddaughter of L.L. Bean founder Leon Leonwood Bean -- was such an active conservative Republican and businesswoman.
I learned a lot about this amazing woman and her companies today thanks to this stupid boycott by Trump-hating liberals, plus her appearances today on Fox News' Tucker Carlson Tonight. I plan to go out of my way to support L.L. Bean and Linda Bean's businesses!
Tucker Carlson (who owns a vacation home in Maine) says Linda Bean makes the best lobster rolls in the world, by the way. ;-)
Unfortunately, Linda has bought the peninsula in which I vacation every summer (since a little girl!) and her effect hasn’t been all that good. The closing of the tuna canning plant she bought, some bad restaurants, really bad grocery stores (which she owns and stocks) has really made me unhappy. It’s nice to know she seems like a nice lady, a good Republican who doesn’t deserve a boycott but her monopoly on St. George hasn’t been altogether good.
