As soon as the long-awaited press conference from President-elect Donald Trump wrapped up this afternoon, CNN’s Jake Tapper took on the day’s speakers and main players for their treatment of his organization.
First, he addressed incoming press secretary Sean Spicer, who insinuated that CNN had also published the dossier of unverified reports on the President-elect that Buzzfeed posted last night. In reality, CNN reported that it existed and that Trump and President Barack Obama were briefed on its existence; only Buzzfeed released the document itself. Tapper noted as much in his broadcast.
“CNN never did that. We never provided even one detail from that dossier,” Tapper said. “That conflation — whether it’s because Sean Spicer misunderstood or some other reason — that’s not true. CNN did not do that.”

He moved on to say that CNN has spent “more than half a day” asking the Trump camp for a comment and receiving nothing, which happened again at the press conference in a very dramatic way.
“When Mr. Trump went after our own Jim Acosta, saying he’s ‘fake news’ and he isn’t going to call for him, what I suspect we are seeing here an an attempt to discredit legitimate, responsible attempts to report on this incoming administration with irresponsible journalism that hurts us all and the media, going forward, should keep that in mind,” Tapper stated, referring to Trump’s refusal to call on a CNN reporter at the event.
Then, he turned to Buzzfeed itself, calling the organization’s choice to put “uncorroborated information” online “irresponsible” for the second time today.
“That’s why we did not publish it and why we did not detail any specifics from it, because it was uncorroborated and that’s not what we do,” he said carefully. “We’re in the business of sussing out what is true and what is false.”

A senior U.S. intelligence official with knowledge of the preparation for the meeting with Trump told NBC News that the president-elect was not briefed on the so-called two-page addendum to the dossier originally generated as part of anti-Trump Republican opposition research.
Multiple officials say that the summary was included in the material prepared for the briefers, but the senior official told NBC News that the briefing was oral and no actual documents were handed to the Trump team.
“Intel and law enforcement officials agree that none of the investigations have found any conclusive or direct link between Trump and the Russian government period,” the senior official said.
Jake, you and CNN have earned every single thing you are receiving......
Tapper is deranged. He squawked about a Michael Cohen under the mistaken belief that Trump’s lawyer was in Prague meeting with Russians! How stupid can you be?
When you refuse to publish something because you can not verify it (and any rational person can immediately identify it as fake news), what is the point of asking questions about something which is patently fake EXCEPT to generate fake news?

CNN asked Trump the equivalent of the old character assassination question. Have you stopped beating your wife? Then knew full well that they were further propagating Buzzfeed’s despicable lies. NBC by the way owns a big part of Buzzfeed. The real question is how much did the Obama White House and Obama acolyte CIA director Brennan have to do with the production and release of this libelous document to an accommodating press more than willing to be a party to Trump’s destruction.
Methinks Tapper doth protest too much...

So, the gist of Tapper’s remarks is that if something is uncorroborated, then CNN will just go with innuendo. How “Dan Rather” of him!

If it’s not corroborated, it’s not news, and should not even be mentioned. Unless CNN is in the business of mentioning whenever there is any kind of rumor without going into the specifics of the rumor! It is specifically CNN’s report that something exists out there that emboldened Buzzfeed to publish everything. So, sorry CNN. You knew what you were doing. Your plausible deniability is not plausible to me and to many Americans.

So you’re saying that Tapper is blaming the CIA for the wrong Cohen? If that’s true, we are in double-trouble.
The national moral booster provided by PEOTUS spanking CNN live during the press conference trumps any whining-claims CNN has.
Bottom line: cnn is a pack of lying bottom feeders who dont “suss” out anything. They can’t stand the thought of finally being sent to the back of the pack. Now if faux news would also be smacked down...
Sounds defensive. Guess they know they screwed up and got called on it. Trump should follow-up with suspending their White House and pool access. Make clear it is no longer business as usual, respect the president or else.
