Actually in most places it’s state law. Check the statutes where you live and I bet you’ll see it is there as well

A Big thankyou-!

25 years ago (or so ) there WERE no remote car starters-

up here in the Twin cities - it was very common to see
people warming up their cars- AND many being stolen!

Passed a law to stop this- at the time- second set of keys to lock the car- (still not a good idea)

SO....glad remote starters have come along- for $350
you can warm your car Legally- this guy should know
this -(is the police officer a A-hole... yep
easier to knock on the door and tell him the law than to write a ticket

Point missed, statute/law or not the cop could have knocked on the door and informed the guy vs a $125 ticket.
