Sorry to hear that. My favorite day at school was the Friday when the monthly catalog came out and we got to pick out the book we wanted.
Definitely a high point, ‘67-’68, 3rd/4th grade, shoveled snow and did yard work to supplement my meager allowance, bought Scholastic Book Service books with it. First money I earned and that I could spend how I wanted; Treasure Island, Kidnapped, biographies of Daniel Boone and “Mad” Anthony Wayne. I might still have a little dictionary from them.
