General Motors has no plans to change where it produces small cars because of criticism from President-elect Donald Trump, the companys top executive said Sunday night.
CEO Mary Barra said the auto business has long lead times for where it produces vehicles, with decisions are made two to four years ahead.
Last week Trump threatened on Twitter to slap a border tax on GM for importing the compact Chevrolet Cruze to the U.S. from Mexico.

GM is in bed with the thug Muslim.
Also had a Pontiac Grand Am with a 4Tec; the motor went on fire on me.
Thanks for the clarification. AP never misses any opportunity to publish fake news.
Thirty. Five. Percent.
Good move, GM.
Double-down on that stupidity. Can’t imagine why you were only worth about a 1/2 billion dollars in 2008.
Had to rent a car and got a Buick Volcano, or something. Not a POS, but a very strange car I was happy to turn back in ASAP. Dunno who designs the driver interface, but completely non-intuitive.
Anything made there must be subject to substantial tariffs. And if they want to reciprocate that's cool.and in the meantime let's get that wall started and those deportations as well.
Not just hatchbacks. This article shows proof that GM lied, and lots of Cruze sedans from Mexico are being sold in the USA. Not just a “small number of hatchbacks”.
Methinks GM is overlooking the President Trump advertising campaign.
If a company is on board with Making America Great Again, then the Trumpkins will channel their business to that company.
If a company is NOT on board with Making America Great Again, then the Trumpkins will channel their business AWAY from that company.
This woman who heads GM just failed Public Relations 101.
It's cloudy with a chance of Trump Banhammer for GM stock. 😀
Good to know
Bottom line: GM build crap (imo) and their technicians are idiots.
1 250 6cyl
1 302
3 350
1 454
I also had a 59 and a 60 chevy both with a 283. When I gave these 2 cars away they were still going good.
Thanks again. AP’s quadrupling down on fake news ever since last November.
She needs to learn to keep her pie hole shut. Why does she think that pretending she has balls will advance shareholder interests? I’d fire her and get someone who knows when to hunker down and when to whip off your jacket and head for the parking lot.
You had all the good motors, which are out of production now mostly due to the unconstitutional executive regulators in DC.
I don’t know enough about Chevy’s new small block motors (such as the LS7 427 in some of the recent Corvettes rated at over 500 horses, or the LT1 376 in the current Camaro SS which is now up to 455 horses) to really say anything about them.
All were used as daily drivers at one time.
The 82 (302 with 327 cam) and 98(350) pickups, off road as well.
The 98 is the only computer/ fuel injected one. All others are carburetted.
The 53 Willys, with a chevy 350, was also a daily driver, as well as an off road beast.
The 454 corvette is more of a weekend fun machine. And I do all of my own maintenance.
And it won’t change my plans to never buy another GM car ever again.
You can still get many of these engines thru GM’s Performance Catalog.
thought they might have had it yesterday
I even pulled a stuck wrecker out of the mud with it.
