I recall the tale of onetime Sen/prez candidate George McGovern. He decided to buy a hotel for his retirement years, figuring he’d have a tidy, reliable income.
He was forced to declare bankruptcy b/c, he said, he could not keep up with the expensive rules and regulations govt inflicts on business owners.
McG said as a Senator all the rules and regs made into law seemed like a good idea....he had no idea of the burdens they inflicted on others.
Wow.
If the guy had any principals; he would have come back into politics to try to fix the evils he inflicted on the rest of the nation.
