So many of us have family or friends who transit through that station. Hope the victim survives relatively ok.

Agree. Civic center is going through a lot of changes for the better. Used to be den of dope addicts and low-lifes, but is seen gentrification over the last twenty years. Accelerating now with tech companies like Twitter moving in. There were like 8 or so large parking lots within a couple blocks of that Bart station that saw high-rise skyscrapers built on them in the last 15 years. Upscale cafes, stores and museums replacing tobacco shops, pawn shops, check-cashing loan sharks and the like. Still a lot of low-lifes congregating in park areas nearby, don't like the changes and harass the techies. You still have to watch your back walking there at night. I had offices at a couple buildings near where Twitter is, off and on over the decades and used that Bart station. Much improved lately, but needs more improvement.

I have to disagree. Civic Center Plaza is a place to avoid. It’s as bad as ever.
