When it looked like Republicans would nominate to the presidency a man who, at least on paper, was the candidate most likely to lose to Hillary Clinton in November, it was the rights immigration hawks who earned the harshest recriminations. I joined a once voluminous group of right-leaning authors who imprudently castigated proponents of a hard line on immigration for scuttling a bipartisan immigration reform bill and turning 2016 into a referendum on their view. Clintons inevitable victory would ensure that her vision for immigration reformamnesty without additional border securitywould be foisted upon Americans. I was right about the referendum but wrong about the verdict. The immigration hawks won it.
When it comes to immigration, Donald Trump was uncharacteristically specific. He campaigned on some pretty clear themes and directed his subordinates to craft white papers expounding on his preferences. Foremost among those was the wall. On the stump, this was an applause line; an impenetrable partition that grew in height by 10 feet per doubt. Behind the scenes, the wall was shorthand for a variety of border security provisions. To the extent that mandates are defined as that which a president can get done, Trump has one to build the wall. A border barrier is not only feasible but the due of Trumps victorious faction of the Republican Party.
The Wall will stand for decades, perhaps centuries.
It is crucial—both NOW, and for the FUTURE when another globalist (ugh!) wins the White House.
An article just a few spots up

Vilhelm DaCommie-o installed a fence around the NYC peeps’ house.
Don’t count on it.Never underestimate the power of the backstabbers McCain, Graham, Flake and Murkowski to stab you in the back.

Yep. People want the wall.
Trump doesn’t need Congress. They passed legislation to secure the border more than 10 years ago but W and 0 never enforced it.
I can see all of these RINOs, including McCain and Graham, falling on their swords to block the wall. They delight in tweaking conservatives and their agenda. They will be lauded in the MSM for their sacrifices. These are all the second comings of Jim Jeffords, that Rat.
You were and are the epitome of hard leftist mole Noah.
You tore your mask off.
This article is by Noah Rothman in Commentary, supposedly a right leaning publication and an author from the right.
The article contains this quote:
“Democrats minced no words in describing Republicans on the eve of the 2013 shutdown. That was ultimately a public relations disaster for the GOP despite the publics antipathy toward ObamaCare, which Republicans were seeking to de-fund”
I am just shaking my head. How was that a public relations disaster for the Republicans? They went on to great victory in the 2014 elections, re-taking the Senate. Then an even greater victory in 2016, with Trump winning the Presidency.
The only way the Republican experienced a “public relations disaster” regarding the short lived 2013 shutdown was the media bad mouthed them about it for a few weeks. So what. The media bad mouths the Republicans anyway, all the time.
“Public relations disaster” means nothing in real life. Only results matter. The Republicans did get the election results in 2014 and, lead by Trump, in 2016.
The Washington right wing, writers and elected officials, seem to have completely internalized the directive “can’t get the media angry at us, it will be a public relations disaster.” This way of thinking and behaving has prevented them from performing the tasks the voters expect them to accomplish.
This leads to the importance of Trump. He has not internalized the left wing point of view. He is not afraid of the media’s power. He is focused on results.
The Wall will stand for decades, perhaps centuries.

Yep, the Great Wall Of China still stands.
What will the media say about a Democrat shutdown?
I think that just enables them to build ,but, not to fund that is where the rub is.
And when they demonstrated scaling the wall, someone should have demonstrated the proper use of a 50 BMG.
“He is not afraid of the medias power”
He is not and he has no reason to fear him because he is a man on a mission and the mission is all about doing the right thing for America. Since it is not “personal” for Trump the old expression “sticks and stones” comes into play.
Trump will succeed because he simply doesn’t care what the press has too say as long as the people are behind him.
Anyway, the young gent, who is pretty conservative in most things but opposes Trump's Wall, said that "it will never happen." The young lady, a Trump detractor, snorted.
My response was, "Well, don't count on that. Trump keeps on doing things that everyone says can't happen."
Ever since the summer of 2015, I have been forced to adapt my thought patterns about just what is possible for The Donald.
