“I am wondering if he got the gun in the rest room of the Ft. Lauderdale airport.?”
So do I.
Same. I stated before on other threads.
He was a passenger on a flight traveling with a checked gun in his baggage, said federal law enforcement officials, who asked to speak on the condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation. The officials said that Santiago had picked up his bag and took the gun into the bathroom to load it before returning to the baggage claim area to begin firing at people.
..................
So here we have the WaPost, a card carrying DBM publication, quoting an unnamed law enforcement source that the gun was on the flight and that shooter picked it up, went to the bathroom, loaded it and than started shooting.
Maybe. But, I'd rather have cameras proving all that which should be everywhere there except the bathroom of course. I just don't trust anything the WApost says. Could have happened the way they say but then again its the Post....
it’s perfectly legal to fly with a gun in checked baggage. I do it all the time as a CHL holder. multiple guns in fact I typically fly with a Sig 229 and a Keltec P3AT unloaded in a locked padded pistol safe and 4 boxes of ammo two each. magazine unloaded in the pistol safe bullets in a separate locked case per TSA regulations. when you check it in you fill out the paper work and they tag your bags with a red fragile tag which actually means firearm inside. when you arrive your bags come out the baggage claim like anyone else’s bags no special claim area. If this guy was a chl and had checked his guns they would have come out in baggage claim he could then take the bag to the bathroom open it load the gun and put it in his pocket all legally as the claim area is not the secured part of an airport and your chl license allows you to conceal carry in the unsecured areas of an airport. when I fly I load up in the bathroom and CHL carry to the rental car pickup all perfectly legal provided the state has reciprocity with my Texas chl license.
