BEIRUT, Lebanon Secretary of State John Kerry was clearly exasperated, not least at his own government.
Over and over again, he complained to a small group of Syrian civilians that his diplomacy had not been backed by a serious threat of military force, according to an audio recording of the meeting obtained by The New York Times.
The 40-minute discussion, on the sidelines of last weeks United Nations General Assembly in New York, provides a glimpse of Mr. Kerrys frustration with his inability to end the Syrian crisis. He veered between voicing sympathy for the Syrians frustration with United States policy and trying to justify it.
The conversation took place days after a brief cease-fire he had spearheaded crumbled, and as his Russian counterpart rejected outright his new proposal to stop the bombing of Aleppo. Those setbacks were followed by days of crippling Russian and Syrian airstrikes in Aleppo that the World Health Organization said Wednesday had killed 338 people, including 100 children.
At the meeting last week, Mr. Kerry was trying to explain that the United States has no legal justification for attacking Mr. Assads government, whereas Russia was invited in by the government.

You shouldn’t keep repeating “Assad must go” if you’re not willing to back it up somehow.
Kerry replied, if we dump more weapons, the other side will just dump more weapons.
Not just “dump weapons” from the other side. Kill people. Thousands. Chechnya, Ukraine and Syria show that mass murder is just another tool in Putin’s policy toolbox. He is betting that he can win by violently escalating the conflict until his opponent can’t or won’t be able to respond.
Is sean gone????
He may be worthless but he speaks French and did you know he served in Vietnam?
EXACTLY. BUMP!
he even offered them a year’s supply of pâté de foie gras from Hickory Farms, but no dice.
And isn’t that odd ... But Trump is the inexperienced one, isn’t he?
One can hypothesize that their plan was Hillary would win the Presidency, US Senate and get close to controlling the US House. Hillary would have kept Kerry at State. This audio would have been more publicized showing Kerry frustrated by inaction in the Congress. This would have possibly given Hillary the gravitas to put US boots on the ground. This audio meeting was from September. They were not anticipating the Russians ratcheting up a seige of Aleppo and basically thwarting all these plans. Like I said our Oligarchs and US Intelligence Services are retarded. Not mentally retarded. But retarded or constrained by political correctness, false US government principals, constraining corruption networks and socially neutered education programs. That is why we self educated Trump Deplorables have run circles around the DC establishment.
It’s not primarily the US that wants that pipeline, nor do even Qatar or Saudi Arabia desperately need it. (They “want” it, but can survive without it.)
So, who’s desperate, or at least thinks they are? And who desperately DOESN’T want to see it go through?
C’mon, Freepers...
The same people who were smart enough to realize that if Daesh controlled Damascus and Aleppo, they would also control the Qatar oil pipeline. Imagine a Daesh Caliphate with the riches flowing oil destined for Europe would bring ? Our Oligarchs have moved on to destabilizing Turkey now. If Hillary was President the calls for the removal of Erdogan would increase. Erdogan must go would be the new war call.
Trump’s just waiting until he gets in, then hopefully all hell will break lose on these criminals. At least it may keep BO’s mouth shut.
Sean had the audacity to go on a much needed vacation. How dare he, when I need my Sean fix. Hopefully he will be back tomorrow to help us fight the elites and their pals the terrorists in 2017.
The damage they have done is incalculable.
Incarcerate and/or eliminate.
