He made a nomination not long after Scalia’s death. McConnell advised no nominee from Obama would get even so much as a hearing - it has been a huge controversy and major news story for months with Democrats and the media throwing fits about it. McConnell said it was the “Biden rule” - referring to a speech Biden made that any SCOTUS vacancy which occurs in an election year should be filled by the next President.
