Democratic senators plan to aggressively target eight of Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees in the coming weeks and are pushing to stretch their confirmation votes into March - an unprecedented break with Senate tradition.
Such delays would upend Republican hopes of quickly holding hearings and confirming most of Trump's top picks on Inauguration Day. But Democrats, hamstrung by their minority status, are determined to slow-walk Trump's picks unless they start disclosing reams of personal financial data they've withheld so far, according to senior aides.
Incoming Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., has told Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., that Democrats will hone in especially on Rex Tillerson, Trump's choice for secretary of state; Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., Trump's choice for attorney general; Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C., tapped to lead the Office of Management and Budget; and Betsy DeVos, set to serve as education secretary.
There's also Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., Trump's pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services and oversee changes to Obamacare, who is set to be attacked by Democrats for his support for privatizing Medicare. Andrew Puzder, a restaurant executive set to serve as labor secretary, will face scrutiny for past comments on the minimum wage, among other policies. Steve Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs partner set to serve as treasury secretary, and Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, Trump's pick to lead the EPA, will also be the focus of Democratic attacks, aides said.

You think the OP was serious?
Maybe you should ask him.
It never even occurred to me. #;^)
No. They will make fools of themselves, and not realize it until everyone has had a belly laugh. I can hardly wait.
all you have to do is to check his postings...
This would be an interesting scenario. As a manager, if someone is out or a position is open, we just take up the slack until i hire a replacement. Trump just basically runs these agencies himself with hia current pics directing what should be done in Trumps name. Fire all the top people he can appoint the other lower level people and let his new secretaries run things from the whitehouse.
Good idea...
Trump likely recognizes that Schumer can’t be bought, only rented.
APPOINT ‘ACTING’ & DO
If Dems are avoidant, then appoint all as ‘acting’ heads. Show up at the office and boot out the old unapproved head.
Do not ask for permission. You have a job to do.
Super majority is not required, only regular Majority to pass any bill per the Constitution.
Filibuster is not Constitutional, only a simple majority, just vote and move forward.
It is not a tiny minority Dem’s nor a Rino executive branch.
Politicians are passive, follower wimps.
Just do.
Public is no action. Private are assertive doers.
I am not being naive and think that what Trump says happens. I know Trump has no control over it. It is all in the Turtles hands. He has to play hardball and not cower to the Dems. If they want 30 hours, then make it 10 hours a day for 3 days. ( Now with the 30 hours , is it for the whole committee ? If so, it is usually split between sides, so that would be 15 hours per side. A side does not have to use all the time allocated to it.)
It is all in scheduling. That is why the first 3 should be Att Gen, Sec Defense ( though they can deny that by not granting him a waiver , since that requires 60 votes ) and Sec of State. They are not the same committees and can be done concurrently. These are the 3 most important appointments. The rest can wait until March.
No filibuster, thanks to the democrats, so we should push those votes through. One cabinet position per day, five days a week, with no consideration for what the treasonous losers want in terms of a circus. All other confirmed positions in each department getting their votes on the same day and prior to the Cabinet post. If a nominee has flaws sufficient for Linda Graham and John McCain plus enough other republicans to defect, so be it. Otherwise, they should all get confirmed prior to the Inauguration.
Agreed.
Yes, I agree.
Be specific. Please tell me how the confirmations will occur and when the votes will be taken and why do you think it will happen that way.
Of course, I know you won't answer, because you have never given it one second of thought. You think it will happen with the snap of Trump's fingers.
For instance, remember all the people on this site that believed Ryan would not be Speaker and McConnell would not be Majority Leader because Trump will do something. Well, I'm still waiting for that something. Well, we know those two will be the leaders for the next two years. I still see posts from some people who still believe they will be denied. They don't realize the caucus votes have already been taken. I guess they will be in for a shock in a few days when it is made official.
The majority only votes refer to nominees with the exception of Supreme Court. Legislation still requires 60 votes and there are at least 6 or so Republicans that have publicly said they are not changing the 60 vote requirement. So, Trump will need at least 8 democrat votes to pass major legislation, that is, if there are no defections on the republican side.
Well, that’s not going to happen. The rules of the Senate require certain things and if the dems want to slow things down they can. This is a republic, not a dictatorship. If the dems want 30 hours of hearings, that is their right to do so. The republicans can’t deny them that even if they want to.
“But Democrats, hamstrung by their minority status...”
Another illiterate reporter. He means “hamstringed.”
Do the republicans have the fortitude to shut them down?
- The answer is no. They would have to rewrite the rule book and they have already stated they are not going to do that. There are about 6 or so pub Senators who have gone on record and are happy as things are. So, again, with the exception of nominees, for major legislation, 60 votes will be needed. And the dems will force the republicans to follow the rules of the Senate when confirming the nominees.
I replied to your post re the dear old TURTLE's wifey. ;^)
No way was she picked soley for her supposed accomplishments.
You believe that because you live close by to the power seat of D.C. that you understand the machinations there. IT IS TOP LAUGH!
Trump is a NEW YORKER; BORN AND BRED....SO AM I ! We're REAL ones, not like the ones who move there and then put on an act. And Actually, I'm even more of a one, than The Donald is, because I was born in Manhattan! But he and I do share certain attitudes and understanding of things that no "outsider" there ever does, nor masters correctly.
And since you have now proudly declaimed that you "believe" that his pick for Transportation Sec, is based on only one thing, you've solidified what a naif, in so many different areas, you actually are.
And I was quite specific re the NUCLEAR TACTIC that Reid put into action. Sadly, you don't understand simple English prose, nor know much about anything at all; especially what I have ever thought about or not. LOL
Those in the way...
Are you referring to elected officials or bureaucrats?
How is Trump going to get his nominees confirmed by inauguration day? That should be an easy question for someone from Manhattan.
