I live only a few miles from you, and so, I have come to understand that being naïve has nothing to do with your distance from the Capitol.
I am not cynical like you are. I believe Chao's nomination to be Transportation secretary was because she was the best among the candidates and is definitely conservative. But if that is why Trump picked her, McConnell still has to abide by the rules of the senate regardless of what you think about it. There can be 30 hours of hearings for each nominee and the dems have said they will have the 30 hours of hearing. Sometimes things are black and white and should be easy to understand. Trump has no say in how the Senate conducts its business. He can persuade - he can ask for deference - he can ask the dems to bypass the 30 hours of hearings, but he can't make them do it and they will do it.

Our biggest hurdle in 2017 is obstructionism from the dem leadership in the house and senate.
I hope Trump has an early meeting with them in the WH to set them straight on how things are going to be.

Well, Trump has more important issues than cabinet nominees to use that type of threat. That threat is used on big pieces of legislation, not on nominees.

Dumbass Harry Reid changed the rules in the middle of the game to appease the clown in the WH. Ain’t it a bitch that his rules will be used against his former party.

Hopefully, McConnell will fall in line with Trump. He won’t want to be solely responsible for Elaine Chao being told “YOU’RE FIRED!”

Bingo! That is exactly how it will go down. Trump didn't become a billionaire, commercial real estate developer in the toughest market in the world and international business tycoon by letting people like Schumer obstruct the will of the people to make America great again.
Trump and his VP Mike Pence, President of the Senate, will squash Schumer like a bug. This will be fun to watch.

No he doesn't "
need 60 votes on anything"; Old Hairy Reid saw top that...all he needs is a
majority now.
Sure, the Dems can delay, the twin morons, McLame and Linda Gramnesty can shall throw in with the Dem s, but it no longer matters all that much.
To: Nifster; All
Mitch is worthless. Trump will do it on his own while Pence will apply more subtle pressure.

The senate sets its “rules” by a simple majority vote.
