There are no permanent allies or enemies in the world. We have more to gain by forging an alliance with Russia than by standing with a Europe bent on suicide and socialism.

Countries like the US, Russia or China cannot be allies and never will. Alliance with Europe is aimed to preserve peace in the region, keep Russia away. Otherwise Russia will start doing shit like in Ukraine ,Moldova or Georgia and perhaps soon in Belarus.

Aside of that, I'm disappointed to see so many Freppers falling into such fallacy inspired mostly by internal US politics.

Russia has always looked to the West for innovation and will continue to do so.

If they would then standard of living and personal freedoms would be much higher.

Its foreign policy is much more sensible than that of Europe and the US.

Sensible?? They don't even know the meaning of this word and doing shit in Europe as always. You like so much their involvement in Syria, thus ignore the whole picture. Russia support president Assad only because the US support so called "democratic opposition".

How about Russia supporting Iran and Palestine? Russia is against Israel only because they consider them to be US satellite state. This is the key to understand their stances.

Other reason why Russia need the US as a opponent is Russian internal policy. Russian government loves to turn away attention of Russian public opinion from their internal affairs to foreign policy. They need mighty enemy and your country happened to be a traditional one.

You keep confusing the term “Russian” with “Soviet”. Different animals.
