Two days after a earthquake swarm in a new area due east of San Freasicko. I would suspect hydrogen sulfide venting as the magma rises in the major fault under the city.

When I visited Mt. Lassen in 1991, the first thing that hit me was the venting of large amounts of hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide from openings just below the roadway. Both gases are products of geothermal activity.
