The DC school infrastructure has gone 8 years without change or transition, they don’t even know the meaning of the word, yet.... mwuhahaha
We should be tracking the homes-for-sale as an index of which liberals are being forced out of the city and where. I see lots of ‘No, now YOU’RE going to bake the damned cake’ opportunities.
True. I've been told that security is one of the reasons presidential kids tend to go to Sidwell. The layout of the campus does provide considerable insulation from any intrusions launched from the street. There is only one classroom building even visible from Wisconsin Avenue, and it is on the other side of an elevated soccer field over a parking garage. It's a relatively easy site to seal and defend. That wasn't deliberate; the present upper school campus was formerly an end-of-the-trolley line farm once owned by the Sidwell's (husband and wife, and founders/proprietors of the school). It was deeded to the school after they died, and the campus was moved there later. The city subsequently grew up around it. Happy accidents, if you consider getting most of the presidential kids a "happy" thing.
There are other private schools that could be as defensible, but with the possible exception of Washington International, they are much farther out of town, with a longer commute. And Sidwell is academically excellent, so it's a win-win-win.
