I see a double standard.
In Aleppo we morn the poor civilians that chose to stay there after they were warned to get out. Poor civilians — As the sovereign government of this sovereign nation removed the terrorist hiding in the people.
But in Iraq where the sovereign Iraqis and US embeds attack the 1.3 million residents of MOSUL and thousands of civilians are dying , there no maudlin complaint. There, Isis, has 40 miles of tunnels under the city. We will have to blow those tunnels to hell with bunker buster bombs or we just stay stuck where we are. We must warn the people and then go annihilate ISIS with all deliberate speed. Will the liberal media accuse us of genocide for doing exactly the same thing as Assad and his ally Russian have successfully done?
The point in the article, it is not a 2 sided conflict in Syria. In Iraq it is also more than 2 sides.
It is less complicated in Iraq, but Iran being the foreign element. Also some presence in Iraq by Turkey (they intend to stay, want the land for oil pipeline).
In Syria there are many factions plus Russian military.
We’ve given very limited support to the Kurds. But we have given support to ISIS and to some of the “rebels”. It appears to me we have supported the “wrong” group of “rebels”, but that is par for Obama, always supporting the “wrong side”.
