Top 15 Democratic presidential candidates in 2020

Democrats grappling with the shock of Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump are also beginning to turn their attention to 2020, and pondering who could defeat Trump as he vies for reelection.

Here are The Hill’s initial rankings of where the potential candidates stand.

1. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.)

How would the 2016 election have panned out had Warren challenged Clinton in the primary? That’s one of the great unknowables of Democratic politics. But now, there is little doubt that the Massachusetts senator is the leading contender for the 2020 nomination.

Warren, a former Harvard Law School professor, has been beloved by the left throughout her late-blooming political career, largely because of her no-punches-pulled attacks on banks and the financial industry. She got under Trump’s skin via Twitter during the 2016 campaign too.

The recent news that Warren will join the Senate Armed Services Committee in January has stoked speculation that she is looking to bolster her foreign policy and national security credentials in advance of a presidential run. Warren would be 71 by the time of the next election, but she is three years younger than Trump.

And even though he is a Catholic (I just looked that up), I would contend that he is still too WASPish.

Democrats gave up having the best for having the first.
Unless and until control of the Dem Party is wrestled away from the "Progressives" (i.e. commies), the Dems will follow that pattern for the next 50 years - first woman, first gay, first hispanic, first Indian, first tranny, first ...
And once in office the minority president will be protected from any criticism because he/she/it, is a minority - just like Øbama.

I tend to agree, but don’t overlook the Wall Street influence, as well as looking for a new BILL Clinton.

Watch out for Cory Booker. Young, charismatic, black communist. He is another 0bama waiting in the wings.

And don’t think America has “learned it’s lesson” from 0bama. The man is leaving office more liked and respected than he has ever been. Minorities will come out in droves for a candidate like Cory Booker.

This country is still stuck on stupid. Trump barely got in and lost the popular vote. The Democrats will back with all guns a blazing in 2020.

Nonsensical list. I think their best hope is Jeb Bush. Or McCain. Maybe McConnell?

WASC? Besides, that term is out of vogue. Any whitey is bad for the liberal left, Catholic or Protestant, if they're a white male, they are bad...

I think a Mediterranean Catholic of a liberal sort might be acceptable. Cuomo type.

“Trump will be 74 in 2020.”

Yes, but some people are old at 50 and some, like Donald Trump, are young at 74. I know, I’m 76 and I still do everything I want to do. Ski season is upon us, and that’s a good thing. And in February, road racing starts up again.
