And so, with the likes of WaPo having already primed the general public to equate "Russian Propaganda" with "fake news" (despite admitting after the fact their own report was essentially "fake"), while the US media has indoctrinated the public to assume that any information which is not in compliance with the official government narrative, or dares to criticize the establishment, is also "fake news" and thus falls under the "Russian propaganda" umbrella, the scene is now set for the US government to legally crack down on every media outlet that the government deems to be "foreign propaganda."
Just like that, the US Ministry of Truth is officially born.

It was early held in the courts that sedition didn’t qualify — it could be countered by patriotic messages. Raising up the devil never has as much power as raising up God. However this principle is sorely tested when few people are truly interested in raising up God.
Like it or not, America has a theological background. Its constitution, while not perfectly formulated, was intended to stand against such a background. Good is stronger than evil, and speech is a means of raising the power of either.

The GOP served this bill up to him. This isn’t an EO. It looks like it might be another of these political moves made for the sake of appearance rather than adherence to Constitutional philosophy. Even if something roughly in that vein might be needed, it could discredit itself by becoming a cynical caricature of what it ought to be. Exhibit 1: McCarthyism. Hoot down the “commie” talkers, regardless of the circumstance, rather than publicly pointing up the virtues of freedom. Result: because it became personal, the “commies” got sympathy, and it all backfired.
Anyhow. Donald Trump and team will probably labor like yeoman to try to clean this stuff up — again, imperfectly, as we are still sinful mortals, but in general tending in a salutary direction.

I would be more cautious. Even a program of being censorious, if it gets personal from a government level (as if Donald Trump carried the tone of his personal campaign over into his government administration) courts a nasty backlash. People don’t like government politics of personal destruction.

Earlier this year, Obama gave up ICANN control over the internet.
The internet is the only free expression that the citizenry has to voice its position and opinion.
Then we had all those allegedly 'clown sightings', pushed by the media, and no one arrested or questioned.
Then we had the Wikileaks dump on the internet showing the 'dirty tricks' by the DNC and its operatives.
Media bias exposed / outright false polls released and we were deluged with erroneous poll results.
Then the "man-child"'s heir apparent got dumped in a referendum on his administration and policies when his chosen candidate got dumped.
And now, the _resident isn't even physically present while signing a "Countering Disinformation And Propaganda Act" Into Law. Done by artificial self auto-writing pen.

Why on earth would the RINO wing of the democrat party not fully support the rest of the democrat party and the democrat President they’ve granted free reign the entire time they’ve had to power to stop him in his tracks?
