I note that you're being rather adamant about a possibility that is rather unlikely given the circumstance, so it appears as if you've made conclusions of your own.
It was a justifiable shooting in my opinion and likely in the opinion of any who witnessed it, however it would have been odd for such a confrontation to have occurred in front of a Deputy Sherriff, wouldn’t you say?
I've owned guns that fit that description.
“Shat” implies less than lethal velocity, although some might disagree after a bout of salmonella. Maybe “spat” works better.

Incorrect. In my original post I stated that the article is ambiguous, and does not support any conclusion regarding culpability of the shooter for the incident. That is my basis for debate - that we DO NOT KNOW.
