Jimmy Carter is the only former president who has confirmed that he will attend the inauguration of Donald Trump on 20 January 2017. Earlier this month, Carter who had endorsed Hillary Clinton in the race to the White House, said at his Sunday school class in Georgia that he would attend the ceremony.
According to Politico, Bill Clinton and George W Bush will decide whether to attend the inauguration in the New Year. A source familiar with Bush told Politico that he is still weighing in on whether to attend the ceremony or not.

I think that the writer has ignored the obvious: Obama will be a “former President” during the second (the best) part of the ceremony! :)
Bravo to Jimmy, and I almost hope he’s the only one, so we can shame all the others.
The Bushes are now totally unmasked. It’s an extremely ugly picture.
Carter requested $5 million for his Presidential Library from Trump many years ago, and Trump wrote that he respected the request even if he didn’t respect Carter’s presidency itself.
I’m not going as far. I think he’s senile and he thinks Cankles won and his attendants don’t want to break the news to him.
He had no problems with the sleazy Democrats. He’s guilty of attempted murder of this country.
[LOSERS, everyone of them.]
ISAIAH 54:17
But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!
TRUMP will be credited for MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. They will be on the bottom ranking of Presidents.
Yes, it is classy of Carter to jump in early and announce his intention to attend. Still, you and others should re-read the article. The inauguration isn't for another 4 weeks, and both Clinton and Dubya have said they would announce their decision after the first.
My guess is that Dubya is spending the Christmas season with his family, as he always has. Especially so with his father's health failing.
Clinton is probably still ducking flying objects in his house, waiting for Hitlery to get over her hissy-fit to end all hissy-fits.
I think history is actually going to be very unkind to the Bush family when it comes to legacy. we The last great president we had was Regan here to Trump living up to his legacy
95% of Bush’s supporters voted for Trump, and he just gave them the finger.
I’m with you. And I’ll really be surprised if Cheney stays away...health permitting, of course/
In view of this campaign it’s for the best if Bill Clinton and George W Bush don’t show. That’ll help Trump too.
I wonder if even Obama will show up for it
“This is a very classy move on Carter’s part. It’s the way decent Americans are supposed to behave. “
I agree-— and shame on the Bush family if they do not attend.
.
I can see no reason for any delay, except to show their displeasure for Trump. After all, this is a presidential inauguration, not some pick-up softball game.
For those who would ding Trump for having wandered for some time from the GOP reservation, since he and his dad were national fundraisers for Reagan in the 80s—it is worth pointing out that he seems to have had the Bushes sized up perfectly all along.
I think you need to investigate the way that Carter treated the Shah of Iran.
Carter handled the Soviets with kid gloves and beat up our allies. He served as a great foil for President Reagan. The startling contrast may have even led to the demise of the Soviets.
Other than Valerie Jarrett?
Good for Jimma, and frankly good for Bill for not attending as he is a national embarrassment rapist. Bush sr. is too infirm, but W should attend and that is being small and I have lost a lot of respect for him and Romney, two people I gave my votes to.
Very sad, but still very true. I used to hold W. in high esteem. Now, I am disgusted by him and his family who almost sold us out to get Hillary elected. I never thought I’d see Jimmy Carter (as we now know him) taking the high road to tradition and decorum. Will Obola be there?
