It would be difficult to obtain reliable statistics on NK economy. I doubt that NK regime is keeping track of economic data reliably. It is compounded by huge underground economy, including smuggling, which everybody knows exists but for which no credible statistic is available. It is a big question mark for them as well as us. We are all guessing and make estimation as best as we could.

Then there is a huge regional disparity, which, according to some experts, is worsening. We may have a case that some pigs are "much more" equal than others.

However, there are enough number of people who were held in prison camp or worked there as guards. So I wouldn't place blanket suspicion on this testimony. Some tend to push the reliability angle so far that they tend to claim that NK is doing much much better. So let me ask you a question. What is your opinion? Is this person flat out lying in your view?
