The statute in question gives the president discretionary powers. Any president can undo this decree by just withdrawing the previous president’s decree. It is certainly not a permanent decree.

I don’t believe it gives a president discretionary powers to mutilate laws already on the books- see my post above- presidents can’t reinterpret rules already on the books in an effort to advance a dangerous or damaging agenda- this is why we have three branches of government- to protect us against a rogue president who ignores rules- What dear leader just did was a gross blatant over reach of his powers-

The law (an older law) on which Obama acted says the ban is permanent. Whether or not the law is constitutional is up for argument. I doubt it would stand up to a challenge by Trump, but the law as written allows the ban to be permanent.
