There are schools in this nation that are soooooo horrific it would be better for the child to NEVER attend! Illiteracy and innumeracy can be fixed. Adults do it all the time. Dead or permanently disabled can't be.

I used to work at a prison - you would be surprised at how creative the inmates are at making shanks. Toothbrushes, spoons, small tools, paper filed into a point.

I cannot even believe we are having this conversation on FR. Something really wrong with our society if we cannot have a butter knife to use with fruit in an educational setting. Time to find another school setting if it's this bad.
