Again, the ambassador was shot in the back. Almost certainly (judging from the article of clothing standing straight up on his abdomen), he was hit at least once in the spine. His instant reaction was shock and pain, and he grabbed toward his chest. Then he fell straight down and onto his back. So what blood pooled out, did so into several layers of clothing (shirt, sweater, jacket lining and outer jacket material) and under his body.
In the assassin's photo, he is face up. He has only a shirt and jacket on, and from the marks on the floor, he obviously did not go down immediately, but slid or crawled back toward the wall.
You are not correctly interpreting what the photos show.
Now THAT would be chilling.
