Russian ambassador to Turkey dead after being shot in 'assassination attempt in revenge for Aleppo'

Russia's ambassador to Turkey has been assassinated allegedly in retaliation for the crisis in Aleppo.

The gunman reportedly said in Turkish "We die in Aleppo, you die here" before opening fire and injuring Ambassador Andrei Karlov.

I believe reputable news sources have said it was an off-duty police officer who clearly has sympathies with the Syrian opposition.

Black eye for Turkey today, but I don’t know how much worse anything will become given the horrible situation already in the region and Syria. FWIW - I don’t expect Trump to continue Obama’s feckless policies in the Middle East. He has indicated multiple times to anyone who listens that his goal is to defeat ISIS. Period.

I didn’t phrase it well. The US public does not know that the Syrian ‘rebels’ are a proxy army being funded by us. They think we are fighting the very people we are funding. If they knew, they would want them obliterated.
