I disagree for the most part. Depends somewhat on the caliber, though.

You probably would have to order domestically made ammo to get good prices. Freedom Munitions makes excellent ammo and their prices are quite competitive. Get on the email blast list for some of these suppliers.

I've noticed that some domestic mfg are making steel cased ammo now. The only steel stuff I use is 7.62x39, not much point in paying a lot to run brass through an AK.

I almost bought a .223 when the Russian ammo was going for 21 cents/pop. It disappeared when Obama came.

I saw some Hornady Soft-Point Steel-Cased Match .223 yesterday and with that polymer coating the stuff looked awesome. Price is right and the stuff is supposed to be very accurate.

Gonna try it when the Spring comes.
