The old powerful ones don’t. The young shriekers seem to actually buy it all.
In any case, yes, it is a means to punish and to keep punishing with the power of the state those who they know can never accept it. To me this gendercrap looks just like ‘gay marriage’ looked 20 years ago. Perhaps not a good sign.
It also creates flawed and damaged people who need the state, so they like that too. But it is mostly about punishing their worst enemies.
