Determined to hold around two dozen Senate seats in 2018, Democrats will use the coming series of confirmation hearings to try to distinguish themselves from President-elect Donald Trumps billionaire nominees and convince working-class voters who elected him that hes not on their side.
While Democrats have little leverage to stop the Republicans picks in the Senate, they still plan a fight. To highlight what they say is the hypocrisy of Trumps campaign promise to be a champion for the economically struggling little guy, theyll focus on the nominees wealth, ties to Wall Street and willingness to privatize Medicare, among other issues. In some cases, theyll seek to drag out the process by demanding more information and ensuring a full airing of potential conflicts of interest. [ ]
Democrats gave up their ability to block Trumps nominees in 2013, when then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid changed Senate rules and reduced the number of votes needed to end filibusters. Now in the majority, Republicans can confirm the nominees along partisan lines.

You want competent cabinet members. You don’t get them by scouring the welfare roles.
The D’s think we are idiots.
If the working man gets a good job due to a booming economy, these dems are doomed and they lost the blue collar worker. The dems pandered too much to the transgenders and elites. I hope the working men and women realize they were forgotten by the democraps.
The class warfare never quits for Democrats, even though most of them are as rich as Croesus.
Party before nation has been the downfall of AMERICA.
It will backfire. All the Pubbies have to do is recite the long list of very rich people who got even richer serving in the Clinton and Obama administrations.
It will be especially insightful to learn how many of those are now profiting from being lobbyists (a practice that Trump is putting a stop to).
I agree! Why pick successful people instead of unemployable LGBTYZQ Muslim illegal persons of color?

The deplorables don’t give a fig about the selections as long as more real jobs are created.
“I hope the working men and women realize they were forgotten by the democraps.”
The Democratic party is like a machine that has been structurally built to do just one thing. This machine is designed to operate only in urban centers and have actions performed on it and by it by identity groups. The glue holding those identity groups together is racism. Racism requires a master class to be the bad guys. The party selected white men to be the bad guys. The majority of workers are white men. To appeal to those white men the entire machine would need to be destroyed because a white man can’t get within shouting distance of it.
Bernie Sanders is appealing to the Democrats to go back to their socialist organizing roots, class hatred. If they do, he has a shot at running for President in 2020. If they don’t the only people who can run for office as Democrats will be victim groups. It is unlikely that a black, heterosexual will vote for a transgender Hispanic
“woman” so they are in deep trouble.
They need white, male worker class people to see themselves as a class and then to see themselves as benefiting from socialism. But every time a white male wanders in to an organizing meeting he is lucky to get out just covered with spit.
Any excuse to bloviate and pretend like they actually care for their constituents beyond their votes....
Oh, the AP? It’s Friday and we think they have any credibility? OK.
If the Republicans can for once act like they have the intelligence, say, of a junior in high school, then they should do this thing we call “prepare” for these hearings, by being able to cite certain things called “facts” that they will unfortunately have to “study” and cram their peanut brains with information that would allow them to respond to ABSOLUTELY PREDICTABLE memes and bumper-sticker slogans issued from the even stupider (really) Democrats. And the Reps should be able to obliterate these arguments, but they will probably not do so because they are simply mental midgets incapable of planning or foreseeing what is easily and obviously foreseeable.
AP praises Dems for perverting the hearings into political dog and pony shows, with the media’s help.
Clinton had their chance to listen to working class democrats but she wanted to elect the first woman president. She made the past election ‘all about me’.
Trump has out-rednecked the Democrats. They’re jealous! Awwwwww.

Not going to work. Trump is promising action to help the working class. They voted for him. Obstructing him is going to be seen by the voters as the Establishment trying to stop Trump from helping them. Not going to win the working class vote back with propaganda ploys Leftists.
What would be dangerous is the Dems working with Trump while the usual collection of limp wristed GOPE Chamber of Commerce types try to block him.
They think that will change the working class minds? ROTFLMAO!!!!
