The Minnesota football team has announced a boycott of football following the suspension of 10 Gophers after a sexual assault investigation by the school.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, players threatened to boycott the Dec. 27 Holiday Bowl against Washington State in protest of the 10 players being suspended. The team held a players-only meeting and later brought in head coach Tracy Claeys, informing him of their plans. Afterward, they announced the football boycott to reporters.
So my question is. . . . .
How will the Cougs coug this one?
I expect the players will make it a racial issue: 10 black FB players and white girl. And the school will back down. Game on.
How will the Cougs coug this one?
= = =
Don’t worry.
They can coug anything.
Lots of experience.
Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Millions of dollars changed hands over this very issue in the Duke case. Apparently some folks just never learn.
This situation made me think of the Scottsboro Boys case.

This is a ‘race card’ issue.
Go play the game and do what you’re getting a free ride to do, or leave the school.
Schools don’t go by criminal proceeding levels of proof. The school in Duke said the kids were guilty and did zero investigation before drawing that conclusion.
Playing football is a privilege, not a right.
Schools need to teach the athletes not willing to play a life lesson here and kick them off the campus.
Welcome to 2016.
If you’re drunk, you can’t f*ck. It’s deemed non-consensual if the woman is drunk.
Sounds like a Dead Kennedys' song.
“Don’t know if it is legit or another case of guys getting railroaded by 0bamas new title IX rules.”
If you want to see Title IX gone really bad, look up the John Doe vs. Washington & Lee University case. Their Title IX coordinator (Lauren “Regret equals Rape” Kozak) enabled a jilted ex to railroad some guy out of the university - despite no crime ever even happening.
As a result, Washington & Lee has been shown to have no due process for *men*. They would rather take care of it internally and not have to deal with silly things like evidence.
“The players were accused of sexually assault earlier in the season. The police investigated and the DA declined to press charges do to a lack of evidence.
Despite that, the school went ahead and suspended the players.”
I’d put good money on another Title IX railroading.
The question I believe is over due process. Supposedly the police investigated and did not file any charges. The University is using Title 9 and the student code of conduct to enforce their view on the incident. I am not condoning rape or any sexual misconduct, but this event has some similarities to the Duke lacrosse case of a few years ago. That said, the players need to fulfill the duties of their scholarships or forfeit the same.
My money is on a cave in.
Florida State. Girl says she’s raped. Turns out it’s by the star quarterback. The investigators are all part of the university which is all about the football money.
Think Penn State.
Everything is swept under the rug. Perp walks. Girl leaves the school.
Apparently they made a video. Show it to a grand jury and let them decide. Plus, that’s CRIMINAL standards. Beyond reasonable doubt.
College doesn’t go by that to be able to kick a player out.
In fact, consensual gang bang might still be a violation of the school policies on sex or morals or what can take place on college campus property.
But... all about money.
Crap on our American flag and kneel for the anthem? That’s fine, we want football money.
Play the damn game like you’re receiving a financial benefit to do (school tuition, housing, and food, plus the kickbacks most get) and STFU.
lol!
Right. How much investigating did the school in Minnesota do?
“The Minnesota football team...”
Minnesota football team? The Vikings?
“The players were accused of sexually assault earlier in the season. The police investigated and the DA declined to press charges do to a lack of evidence.
Despite that, the school went ahead and suspended the players.”
Not entirely accurate. They decided not to press charges after a settlement was paid. And this is a second incident. I don’t know what the school knows. And the school told the player they could not tell them due to this new investigation. But I am a little less inclined to believe these player considering that fact. JMHO.
“There were no charges filed. Read, research and learn. It works.”
After they paid her to shut up. Read, research, and learn. It really does work.
Minnesota =/= Missouri.
