Judge: Colorado faithless electors must vote for Clinton or vacate positions

DENVER -- A state court judge ruled Tuesday that all Colorado electors to the Electoral College must vote for Hillary Clinton or vacate their positions.

Initially, judge Elizabeth Starrs said if the electors take the oath and don't vote for Clinton, they would face criminal penalties.

But she later said the electors would be replaced if they don't vote for Clinton and it would then be up to prosecutors to decided whether they would face charges.

The decision ensures Clinton will receive all of Colorado's nine electoral votes.

Two Democratic members of Colorado's Electoral College fought to have a state law ruled unconstitutional so they could vote for someone other than Clinton in an attempt to keep Donald Trump from becoming president.

On Monday, a U.S. District Court judge shot down a lawsuit filed by Polly Baca and Robert Nemanich, who were seeking a restraining order that would have blocked the state law that requires them to vote for Clinton, who won the state's popular vote. . .

I doubt they would rule this way for Trump.

FROM ARTICLE:

Baca and Nemanich wanted the law ruled unconstitutional so it could affect other states with similar laws. That way, electors in states that Trump won could be freed to vote for someone other than the president-elect.

Apparently these suits are being filed in a number of states. The intent is to get a federal judge to rule that state laws requiring electors to vote for the candidate who won the state popular vote is unconstitutional. This would free up electors, in states that Trump won, to vote for Clinton.

This, combined with the CIA faking the evidence of supposed Russian hacking, and then the CIA refused to produce that information to the House Intelligence Committee today, and the hysteria created by all this, talking heads spreading false information, and the president directing the CIA to deceive the American public spells one thing: Coup. A Coup is in progress. No I’m not crazy, a Coup is in progress.

Yes, they would. In states where electors have to sign pledges to vote for the state’s majority, depending on how the law is written, they must abide by that regardless.

I don’t think you understand what these 2 electors were trying to achieve, which was to reduce Trump’s electoral votes in other states, to free up electors to vote for other than Trump so the Dem electors would stay faithful and pull off a coup for Hillary!

Exactly. It's clear this is a scheme to get Hillary in, given the fact it's only Western states as of yet which these dem electors are from. If they were truly serious and sincere about voting for a not-Trump alternative like Romney or Kasich as they've floated, then why haven't dem electors from the numerous East Coast states Hillary won not making noises and filing lawsuits? It's obvious they hope to sucker enough gop electors and not keep their end of the "deal" by taking advantage of the time zone difference.

I posted a few times about the ploy they are hoping to pull off:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but these democrat electors wanting to do this all appear to be from western/southwest states so far (WA, CA, CO)...they “claim” they want and would go for someone like a Kasich or Romney, but seems to me it’s actually a ploy to try to trick enough gop electors into going along with it to bring Trump’s electoral votes below Hillary’s, because what guarantee is there they would actually vote for another-Republican-not-Trump when it comes their time to vote? Had these democrat electors been located in the Northeast/Eastern seaboard states which went abundantly for Hillary doing this and are the 1st ones in the nation to cast their electoral votes, it would appear a bit less sinister. But that they are in states which’ll cast their votes later indicates to me they wouldn’t hold their end of the bargain and vote for a “compromise” if this were to work and enough republicans abandoned Trump.

I don’t think the CIA faked the hacking. I think the MSM is reporting this in this manner to give the impression that they’ve stated this. They lie you know...: )

The judge needs a drug test and her bank accounts and donors activities auditeD to see if she has accepted bribe money )whether they want to call it a timely donation or not). If this is true she has way overstepped her authority and needs to be disbarred and removed from the bench immediately.

Yes. This is making me feel better that they’ve been on top of it behind the scenes.

Otherwise every anti-Trump EC story would drive me nuts.

Ummm. You know that they have to vote for Clinton. Because Clinton won CO.

But the electors are trying to vote for some other candidate besides Trump or Clinton.

I think they were looking for a precedent...opening the electors to vote for others who were not elected in their state....

Here is a link regarding Putin influence on our election.

http://www.aol.com/article/news/2016/12/14/us-officials-putin-personally-involved-in-us-election-hack/21628246/

In addition, I read there is a move afoot to have 11 states with no winner take all in their laws or constitution be apportioned according to the actual vote in that state. A Google search of “faithless electors” indicates there are 21 states that do NOT have winner take all in their constitutions, and 11 probably refers to states that were listed for Trump.

“A Coup is in progress.”

More precisely, a Coup is definitely being attempted. People can smirk and sneer because it probably won’t work, but, still, it is being attempted by Obama. Can anyone be surprised?

Am I naive, or is it instead that Clinton’s electors have a reason to withhold or change their vote?

That is, she is too ill to assume the office or complete her term, or may be guilty of treason?
