The real “fake news”.
In the Duke lacrosse case, Crystal Gail Mangum was never charged with false accusation of rape, even though she was obviously guilty. She subsequently attempted to kill one of her boyfriends, and succeeded in killing another.
American prosecutors don't seem to regard false accusation as a crime. I don't understand it.
The penalty for a false accusation MUST be the same as it would have been for the person falsely accused. There are to be no exceptions.
We knew from the stories reporting her “missing”, and then “found”, that this was sketchy.
