U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus has a penchant for doling out interesting and unconventional names for new warships, but a petition currently on the White House website wants the next major warship to be named something that may be too outlandish even for him.
The petition suggests that the next major vessel be christened USS The Deplorables, as the petition notes, to honor those citizens who rose up to defend America and the Constitution from the globalists.
The name is taken from a remark Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made on the campaign trail to refer to supporters of President-elect Donald Trump.
"You know, just to be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trumps supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables, Clinton said at a rally in September. "The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic you name it. And, unfortunately, there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.
The remark initially offended many Trump supporters, and Clinton apologized for it. But the term quickly turned into a rallying cry for Trumps campaign and helped the GOP candidate win the White House. Now it appears at least some of his supporters would like the Navys next ship to be deplorable as well.
The petition, which was started by someone with the initials D.S., has so far only garnered 768 votes since being launched on December 4, 2016 99,232 short of the 100,000 needed by January 3, 2017, to receive an official response from the White House. CONTINUES

Absolutely stoopid idea. Why give even a hint credence to a strident virago?
That’s as bad as sans-coulottes.
I kind of like the name, nice ring to it. I’d just go with the USS Deplorable, though, flows better. Kind of like a mashup of “The Dirty Dozen” and “Invincible.”
Boaty McBoatface 2 is my pick
“Why give even a hint credence to a strident virago”
Let me clarify: A stridently, psychopathic Marxist, virago.
If I was in the sea services and received orders to this ship called the Deplorables, I would immediately request separation from service.
There’s an old saying - proud ship, proud crew. There’s nothing to be proud about when you’re attached to a ship that is named after a demeaning quote from a psychopath.

“USS Gabrielle Giffords”
WTF?
Fox and Friends just mentioned this story. :)
Right!
Fox ‘n Friends now talking about it.
YES ... LOL.
I like it, but it’s too disrespectful to embed Hillary’s evil concept into our military.
According to much of the US government policing organization, and even the US military, the basket of deplorables are domestic terrorists. Being against globalism is considered the position of a terrorist. So is actively supporting the second amendment. Disagreeing with political correctness on race and sex is also terrorism.
We may as well name the ship the basket of domestic terrorists.
USS “Nuts”
The USS Gabrielle Giffords has evil guns on it that can kill, seems to me that they would have better more PC to name a hospital ship after her.
srike (better)
WTF? <<
I guess it wont have any real guns or weapons on it..
Maybe water cannons that spray Hot Cocoa and a snow flake making cannon and a new stealth design that makes it appear as a basement on radar...
Let’s stop naming ships after people. We have plenty of states, cities, battles, and historic ships to name new ships.

It won’t be named “Deplorable” even if the petition gets 100,000 sigs (which it needs before the White House might address it.)
I’m guessing the intent here is to needle the Obama and the Dems one more time about their expressed view of the American people - and how much it cost the Dems.
But Gabby Giffords? Oy. I don’t think ships should be named after living persons in the first place.
