The so-called faithless electors would be accomplices in the coup.
That doesn't seem to be a recipe for a long and happy life where one dies in one's bed, unless it happens to be on fire.
Before acting they should give very careful consideration to what the results couuld be for the nation and for them personally.
Then they should ask The Nutty Harvard Professor if he can provide them with 24/7/365 personal security for the remainder of their lives.
If their actions precipitated a coup that subsequently lead to violence they would be standing in the spotlight right at the epicenter.
