Joseph Tompkins is an "irreparable harm" survivor. He's the guy who got the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to force a small Indiana town to remove a cross from atop its municipal Christmas tree on Monday.
Mr. Tompkins, who must be blessed with remarkably selective eyesight, was "forced to come into direct and unwelcome contact" with the cross on top of the tree in the public square as he drove through Knightstown, causing him "irreparable harm," said the ACLU lawsuit filed on Dec. 8 on his behalf.

I’ve read the other comments in the thread and it seems one party in this situation is being forgotten. The “forgotten man” is the judge that wrote the order to remove the cross. That must be an incredibly weak-minded person to accept such contrived arguments from the ACLU.
I wonder just what kind of judge would allow a case to proceed when the premise is so ridiculous. Irreparable harm indeed!
Must be hell for him going by a Catholic Church or any Christian Church for that matter.....I wonder if the small letter “t” also causes him agony.
If it’s irreparable, that means that the damage is done. No harm in leaving it up since your pansy ass is already damaged goods.

Even a vampire can get over it. They wince a bit and move on.
What’s particularly nice is the result of his lawsuit: the townspeople have fought back by erecting crosses all through the town, so now Mr. Tompkins is forced to see crosses EVERYWHERE he goes. I bet they don’t take them down after Christmas.
***While Mr. Tompkins may have won his legal battle, he’s lost the culture war, as local residents have responded by displaying hundreds of crosses on everything from buildings to car antennas.
Now, instead of one cross on a stationary tree, an army of crosses is crisscrossing the city on public streets paid for with Mr. Tompkins’s very own tax dollars. Plus, the town Christmas tree is still there, awash with lights and ornaments. City officials can “Christianize” it with a star on top or an angel if they’re so inclined. ***
The town is dealing with it! Hundreds of crosses have been erected. They’re everywhere.

“Suck it up Buttercup” applies well here too.
What would happen if the town simply refused or asked for a court date and then if the date was before Jan 1st, have their atty at the last moment ask for a delay due to illness, etc. There could be a lot of excuses the town could use. By the time this was all settled Christmas would be over and the issue dies.
Next year repeat.
My wife’s hometown, Wauconda, IL faced the same situation quite a few years ago—a cross on the water tower at Christmas. ACLU lawsuit demanded it come down and the town complied rather than pay for a lawsuit they knew they’d lose. And the town’s response was the same—lit crosses everywhere on private property.
Yeah. TO A SATAN WORSHIPPER.
Simple solution: Pull his eyes out.
To the demonically possessed, maybe.
Of course, the creatures of the ACLU would be all for Demonic Rights.
